(a) Full length portrait of William Spencer, Duke of Devonshire. He is dressed in tight trousers, morning suit and holds a top hat in his left hand. He holds a rolled paper in his right hand. The wall behind with columns. Originally in a gilt gesso frame (b) with sculptural decoration at the corners, a carved coronet on top.
