Summary
Watercolour on paper, Coastal Scene with Boatman at East Cowes, Isle of Wight by Nora Davison (fl.1881-1900). A man with a beard sits in a small boat, two other boats floating behind and behind that houses and trees. An inscription on the back written by Richard Harpur Crewe; 'boatman at East Cowes, Isle of Wight, in his favourite boat and his others behind him. A great friend of mine, I often went with him in his boats about Cowes. He was at one time in the Royal Navy and was on the Victoria and Albert when launched and one of the men who were thrown into the water when the ship healed over.' 'Given to me by my grandmother.'
