Full description
Flintlock blunderbuss, signed H. Nock, London. A good quality Birmingham-made blunderbuss, bearing post 1813 Birmingham proof marks and signed with the name of the well known London gunmaker, Henry Nock. Henry Nock, was active from 1770 but died in 1804. One of five similar guns plus two others of contemporary date together with a wooden wall rack. Brass round barrel with turned mouldings and a flared muzzle. The breech with Birmingham proof marks and inscribed LONDON. Engraved barrel tang. Retained to the stock by 2 barrel pins. Wooden ramrod with brass tip. Barrel length 30.5cm Diameter at muzzle 33mm. Walnut full stock with chequered wrist. Engraved brass furniture comprising; butt-plate, trigger guard, escutcheon (missing) and 2 ramrod pipes. Engraved flintlock, the plate of flat form with a stepped tail and inscribed H. NOCK. Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length 71cm
