Full description
Flintlock blunderbuss, signed Brummitt. Probably Samuel Brummitt, Nottingham (active 1810-28). One of seven guns of contemporary date together with a wooden wall rack. Iron round barrel with a flared muzzle. Breech with post 1813 Birmingham proof marks and an unidentified makers mark, a bird within a squared cartouche. Retained to the stock by 2 barrel pins. Wooden ramrod with horn tip. Barrel length 40cm Diameter at muzzle 28mm. Walnut full stock. Brass furniture comprising; trigger guard with some engraving and 1 ramrod pipe. There is no evidence that a butt plate was ever fitted. Flintlock of flat form, line engraved and stepped at the tail, engraved BRUMMITT. Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length 80cm
