Summary
Wall paintings based on the story of Susannah and the Elders from the Apocrypha c1580. Largely painted onto the walls and timbers but some small areas painted onto paper and then pasted onto wall. Text is in English. The lower part of the walls are decorated with ornate dark yellow fictive coffered panelling with a raised central diamond motif. The panels have counterchanged green and red backgrounds. While the red background appears to have been plain, it appears that the green backgrounds would originally have had additional scrolled or curved decoration, possibly in imitation of marble. The individual panels are separated by bands of elaborate strapwork decoration. The base of the wall, below approximately 46cm is unpainted, although there has been much repair in this area and it is not clear if some type of decoration has been lost.
