Summary
Letter to Sir George Smart regarding concerts, dated April 30th 1831.
Full description
The M.S. sent to Mr G. Kemble April 30 1831 The best good Morning, dear Sir George; Here I send you the book of the Drama we talk’d off [sic] the other day. On the 25th of May is somewhere an other Concert for the Benefit of certain Poors, I don’t know how they call it, which I was told is much protected by high people; I think my 2d Concert would neither take an advantageous chance on that day. Pray let me know by my son (who is the bearer of this) if, in case on Thursday the 26th would not be a Drawing Room, there is no other difficulty on that day? I shall get answer this morning about it from somebody at Court. I was also told that the King’s Birthday is never celebrated on that day. Yours very truly J Summerly [?] Friday morning April 29. 1831 [On reverse] Sir George Smart Great Portland St [?]
