June 4 My dear Gibbs The passage I spoke to you was in the 21st day, p. 19. It was to be substituted for the 2nd, 3rd & 4th quarters on that page the following: There has been some increase, but suppose the proportionate increase in the commodities was greater than the proportionate increase in the volume of the currency, if prices depend on the measure of commodities against the money that is seeking commodities, you would expect prices to fall and not rise?
