Summary
1/8th accurate scale model of the Sunflower Gypsy Caravan, a forerunner of gypsy caravans, made by R.J. Amphlett of Abertillery, Wales. The body is in maroon with an off-white base and white removable roof. There are over 400 motifs on the outside, including sunflowers. Inside there are 20 bird scene paintings. It is completely furnished, including inter alta carpets, 17 different plates and pull out table under the bed. The Sunflower caravan is one of the first types of gypsy caravans - larger and heavier than those produced later. The original caravan is in Les Oaks Farm Museum, Cheadle, Staffordshire.
