Summary
1/8th accurate scale model of a Burton Caravan, one of the most used caravans, made by R.J. Amphlett of Abertillery, Wales. The body is in maroon, with a white roof and green and yellow undersprings. The bottom half, bed and under carriage are ribbed and the removable top is panelled and trellised. The ten panels on the outside and ceiling and four pictures in the bedchamber are painted in oils by E.W. Amphlett (the modeller's brother). The door has balustrade door post and unusually the doors open inwards. Normally Burtons have single porch brackets, but this one has double porch brackets on the front. The original caravan is in Les Oaks Farm Museum, Cheadle, Staffordshire.
