Summary
Ivory sewing case in two pieces, because the metal hinge is broken. Oblong shape. On the lid, engraved at an angle in script; Ursula. Inside the lid are cutout shapes for scissors, two small files and thimble. There is an oblong metal fastening strip along one long side. The metal hinge is missing from this half. The base has cutouts in reverse to the lid, and has an extra long, very narrow cutout. It also has both pieces of the brass hinge, and on the other side is a long metal fastening strip with a small knob protruding from the side for opening, but this does not move.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
