Summary
Fitted bookcase in a classical style, divided into 9 sets of shelves, with a row of cupboards below, Painted white. The three central rows of shelves are surmounted with a broken pediment. Other rows are separated by pilasters with scrolled capitals. Designed by Winton Aldridge, re-using elements of John Carr of York's work, salvaged from Panton Hall, Lincolnshire.

Parts believed to have been designed for Panton Hall, Lincolnshire by John Carr of York, c.1775; Purchased by Lord and Lady Iliffe, c.1955 and then commissioned as part of a new bookcase for the Library, Basildon Park.
