Summary
Watercolour on paper, At Low Tide by George Cockram (Liverpool 1861 - Anglesey 1940), signed. Painted at Rhosneigr, Anglesey. A pair of horses pull a cart onto which a couple fork seaweed. A boy holds the head of the chestnut, the other being a grey. Extensive foreground of sand and pebbles with sea beyond and distant shore with white village and hill beyond. Mounted and with heavy moulded gilt frame and glazed. Cockram studied at the Liverpool School of Art under John Finnie (1829 - 1907) between 1876 and 1884. Between 1881 and 1887 he lived in Liverpool until he moved to Rhosneigr, Anglesey in 1894 where he lived for the rest of his life and where this scene was painted from.
