Summary
Erard grand piano (No.14056). Straight strung, with a composite iron frame made up of a continuous hitchplate and four suspension bars. Sycamore inner ring, beech wrestplank and veneered rosewood casework. Three legs with turned columns, fretwork lyre-shaped music desk and candle stands, ivory keys and brass-trimmed pedals. Labeled 'Patent Erard London' above keys. Date-stamped 1873 on distal-end extension of the lowest key.

Baddesley Clinton, Warwickshire; John Margetts & Sons Baddesley Clinton sale 12-14 March, 1940; purchased for £5 by B L Carey, Surrey on behalf of William Coker Iliffe (1870-1942) for Lord and Lady Iliffe, then of Lightborne Rough, Moreton Morrell, Warwickshire and later Basildon Park, Berkshire by whom gifted to the National Trust with Basildon Park Estate in 1978.
