Dish, porcelain, round with upwardly curving sides, made in Kutani, Ishikawa Prefecture, Meiji period (1868-1912), decorated in overglaze enamelsin aka-e 赤絵 ('red picture') style with birds and flowers in variously shaped cartouches reserved against a red ground, inscribed 'Kutani' 九谷 in red on the base.
