Summary
Three stained beech chairs, England, circa 1850, with rush seats, the backs formed of thee humped splats between two square uprights, the front legs of circular form, the rear are square. The legs are joined by two stretchers at the sides and one to front and rear.
Provenance
Owned by Jane and Thomas Carlyle during their occupation of 24 Cheyne Row (then 5 Cheyne Row) until Thomas' death in 1881. Then by descent to the previous owners, the Harland family. Purchased by the National Trust in 2022.
