Peruvian bowl with central llama finial. 1000-1500AD, silver, with handwritten card label. Chumu ceremonial silver offering bowl found at Chan Chan, north coast of Peru. Written on one side of printed cream card; TYNTESFIELD / BRISTOL / Silver basin / Ancient Peruvian or Chilean. / Taken from the ruins between / the town of Trajillo and its port Huauchace. On reverse side; silver basin / Ancient Peruvian or Chilean. / Taken from the ruins between / the town of Trajillo and its port Huauchace / of Chauchan or the / Great Chines as they are called by / the natives, whose traditions speak / of a powerful State which existed / in that locality long before its / conquest by the warriors of Cuzco, and / its annexation to the Empire of the Incas.
