Summary
Display board - Plain wide wooden frame with mitred corners held by screws. Hanging ring on back on one side. Frame surrounds metal sheet with wooden back made of three planks held in frame with pins. On front, in script, in faded white paint; Stop traveller, a moment lose / Invited by a rustic muse. / Think it not much to steal an hour / From plans of wealth or schemes of power. / Tis no immoral task I mean / To court this sweet tranquil scene. / If genuine nature has the charm / Our rougher passions to disarm / Without regret you here may stay / And do the goddess incense pay. / What tho' her plainest dress she wore / And void of ornament appease / Yet will her simple good invite / And furnish elegant delight / Tho' modest beauty still may boast / The least obtrusive pleases most. ( This is a poem by Hannah More ). Similar to item NT25917.
