Summary
1 of 24 panels of stained glass with coats of arms of the Lyte family. Edmund Lyte and Thomasia Carent, married 1378. Description of object Type 1. Putto in top rt.corner. helmeted figures in lower corners. This panel contains some remarkable virtuoso craftsmanship in the three circles of the right hand half of the shield. Not only have they been let into openings cut into the white background, skilful enough in itself, but each circle comprises a series of coloured chevrons separated by lead work, these being virtually a miniature stained glass panel within each circle. Purple background probably replacement.
