Envelope for a letter from Beatrix Potter to Joseph Moscrop, shepherd to Beatrix Potter at Troutbeck Park Farm from 1926. Dated 8 January 1943. Part of a collection of letters, Beatrix Potter's Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop, edited and transcribed by Judy Taylor and published (1988) as 'Beatrix Potter's Farming Friendship, Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop 1926-1943'. Small quite worn envelope. The address has been stuck onto the front it says Mr J. Moscrop, Redgatehead cottage, Bailey, Newcastleton, Roxburghshire N.B. It has a blue postage stamp and is dated Jan 8. 43. It has been torn open from the top.
