Letter, with envelope, from Beatrix Potter to Joseph Moscrop, shepherd to Beatrix Potter at Troutbeck Park Farm from 1926. Dated 26 February 1942, the letter concerns Joseph's wage; Wages Board set wage for stockmen and others will be difficult for small farmers to pay; economic prospects after the war; the demand for cheap food; agricultural subsidies; Beatrix unable to visit Troutbeck Park because of snow. Part of a collection of letters, Beatrix Potter's Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop, edited and transcribed by Judy Taylor and published (1988) as 'Beatrix Potter's Farming Friendship, Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop 1926-1943'.
