Summary
Letter from Beatrix Potter to Joseph Moscrop, shepherd to Beatrix Potter at Troutbeck Park Farm from 1926. Dated 26 December 1941, the letter concerns the war, and recent bombing of the Cumbrian coast (Barrow?); men called up, but not shepherds; little snow; turnips and corn; cattle prices at sales in Carlisle and Penrith; George Walker's health improved; potato crop poor. Part of a collection of letters, Beatrix Potter's Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop, edited and transcribed by Judy Taylor and published (1988) as 'Beatrix Potter's Farming Friendship, Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop 1926-1943'. The letter is written over two sheets of paper.
