Summary
Letter and envelope from Beatrix Potter to Joseph Moscrop, shepherd to Beatrix Potter at Troutbeck Park Farm from 1926. Dated 9 January 1929, the letter concerns sheep in better condition for lambing this year but more half-bred lambs expected; Beatrix had been back and forth to Troutbeck Park to see the new calves; the effectiveness of the white bull; expected mixture of blue-grey and pure Galloway calves; not a good season with the lambs as the grazing mismanaged; when the tups and lambs should be turned loose (herdwicks, half-breds and Wensleydale sheep). Part of a collection of letters, Beatrix Potter's Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop, edited and transcribed by Judy Taylor and published (1988) as 'Beatrix Potter's Farming Friendship, Lake District Letters to Joseph Moscrop 1926-1943'.
