Summary
Copy made by Beatrix of extracts from two original story letters. The single sheet of flimsy paper is folded in half to form a booklet. The extract on the front - page 1 - is copied from a letter to Noel Moore of 8 March 1895, about a mouse ill in bed who is visited by Dr Mole. The letter opens, 'I am so sorry to hear from your Aunt Rosie that you are ill'. The extract is illustrated with ink sketches of a mouse in bed, Dr Mole, a mouse carrying a teacup, and a mouse sitting in an armchair. The original letter is published in 'Letters to Children' edited by Judy Taylor. The second extract on page 3 is from a different as yet unidentified letter, and opens 'I was very sorry to hear from Mrs Barnes you are not well.' It is illustrated with ink drawings of figures on a beach (?) with a headland in the distance, a lady rabbit sitting in a chair, and a line of children with onion or pumpkin heads running after a lady with an umbrella. This copy is published in 'Letters to Children', the original letter has not been traced.
