Beatrix made this copy of her original letter to Noel Moore and used it to develop the manuscript for the first (privately printed) edition of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. The book is now available in over 35 languages and has been continuously in print since 1902.
Summary
Pages 6 and 7 of a copy made by Beatrix of the original Peter Rabbit story letter that she wrote to Noel Moore from Eastwood, Dunkeld, 4 September 1893. Page 6 of the letter begins 'in time, leaving him jacket behind him'' and contains sketches of Peter running under the gate and Peter's jacket and shoes hung on the posts. On the reverse, Page 7 begins 'Peter was ill during the evening' and contains sketches of Mrs. Rabbit putting Peter to bed, and Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail having blackberries for supper.
