Summary
Loose sheet from the manuscript dummy HIL.R.34 containing a pencil-written rhyme and a pencil illustration of a guinea pig standing before a mirror brushing his hair with a large brush. This rhyme was included in the 1917 published edition. On the reverse of the sheet is a pencil drawing, an illustration for the Tale of the Pie and the Patty Pan of Duchess in the garden reading the invitation, for HIL.RP.704. Presumably this drawing dates from around the same time as the Apply Dapply manuscript, as The Tale of the Pie and the Patty Pan was published in 1905. The sheet was slipped in between pages 42 and 43 of the dummy book. There once was/ An amiable guinea pig/ Who brushed back his hair/ like a peri wig, See also HIL.R.34, the dummy book; HIL.R.34.1 - HIL.R.34.28 and HIL.R.34.30 - HIL.R.34.49, further rhymes and illustrations.
