Summary
Manuscript in panoramic format of The Fierce Bad Rabbit. The manuscript consists of 3 strips of paper which have been pasted together to form a single long, thin sheet which has been folded concertina-style to give 15 spreads. Each spread consists of a short paragraph of text on the left hand page facing a watercolour and ink illustration drawn directly onto the right hand page. The text of the first two spreads was amalgamated for the published version, and the first ilustration of the manuscript becomes the published frontispiece. The drawings are very similar to the published illustrations, the main difference being the illustration for 'And then he shoots - BANG!' where the man kneeling to shoot is replaced with a standing figure in the published book. The first draft of this story was written for Louie Warne in a manuscript dated Feb 23 06; this manuscript dates from the same year. The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit was published in panoramic format in November 1906, and first appeared in regular book format in 1916.
