Summary
Manuscript of The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, a brown 'Prince of Penny' exercise book. This is an earlier, less complete draft of manuscript HIL.R.4.1. It contains a single rough pencil illustration on a small loose sheet of paper, along with 8 small unused separate sheets which were presumably intended to be used for further illustrations. The first 7 spreads of the manuscript, unlike the later draft, have text on both facing pages. The next 11 spreads have text on the right hand page only. There is also one loose sheet of manuscript which is the beginning of a separate story of an old fisherman fishing for pike; 'Once upon a time an old gentleman went a fishing...' See also HIL.R.4.1, a more complete draft of the manuscript; HIL.RD.81, HIL.RD.87, sketchbooks containing drawings of Fawe Park garden and settings for Benjamin Bunny.
