Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, William Gibbs (1790-1875) by George Hughes (fl.1813-1858). Miniature. Christie's description: Framed copper [ivory] miniature by George Hughes of William Gibbs in a black coat, grey waistcoat and black cravat in an oval gold frame with hanging loop. On the reverse inside the glass are two lines of printed black text reading: W M GIBBS / Painted by HUGHES 1850. Sotheby's description: Framed oval ivory miniature attributed to Nathan Hughes of William Gibbs, head and shoulders wearing dark coat and grey waistcoat.
