Summary
Blanket box. Bottom consists of wooden frame covered with velvet on outside and calico(?) on inside. Base (woodworm treated) of wood. Above wooden base a border of silk braid on upper rim of bottom covered in darker, thicker velvet. Two metal hinges and brass catch consisting of two plates - one with two holes, one with two teeth. Attached to inner lid are two calico straps which would have been attached to base to stop lid falling completely open. Front inside lid corners have cord handles attached (right-hand one broken). Lid is lined inside with calico and very padded. Outside lid covered with different fabric. Green edge between inside and outside fabrics is very worn and unstuck.
