Summary
Painted or stained glass window - One of eight windows above the blind arcades in the Nave with the lower lights left to plain glass and the top smaller lights painted and decorated. The window is in the perpendicular style in the form of a pointed arch. The top lights are surrounded by tracery of the flowing decorated style. At the top four quatrefoils, top and bottom foils come to a point with rounded side sections and each of the side foils are rounded coming to a point joining the those of the top and bottom. The top quatrefoil has a white eagle, symbolising a man of action, with gold wing tips wrapped in a buckled strap, symbolising victory in battle. The left and right quatrefoils have a red rose to the centre. The bottom quatrefoil shows a white long dog in an esquire helmet with ducal cornet, symbolising loyalty and protection, and a Latin phrase in a banner running from left to right behind. The symbols are taken from the Duke of Newcastle's coat of arms.
