Summary
One of four crescent-shaped, white ceramic side dishes with the Gibbs' crest in black on one edge - this is an upraised arm, encased in armour, and holding a battleaxe above the motto: TENAX PROPOSITI. Embossed pie-crust rim. Marked on base in black in an oval is a crown and: SOANE & SMITH / 462 OXFORD STREET / LONDON W. Impressed maker's mark on underside: MINTONS / WS. Also impressed with a letter M, a number 6 and a number 2 in a circle. Glued repair on one side and staining in glaze.
