Detached flintlock mechanism, Model 1777, from a French military musket, made at the Royal Armoury at Mutzig, France c1810. Flat lockplate, engraved “Mre. Imple. de Mutzig” (The Imperial Arsenal at Mutzig). Sloping brass flash-pan. Rounded cock with heart-shaped reinforcing ring at the neck, straight comb and pierced jaw-screw. Marked on inside of pan XXIII 41, and stamped with an oval containing a star and a crescent. The lock components marked with the number 5. Overall length: 16cm
