Caption
The moustache cup is said to have been invented by Staffordshire potter Harvey Adams to protect handlebar moustaches (sometimes waxed) from becoming wet or droopy while drinking tea. Fitted with an inside ledge with a half-moon opening, the moustache cup allowed the drinking of hot liquids while keeping facial hair dry.
