Summary
North Lincs spindle-sided waggon. Rutland waggon. Probably built somewhere on the Northants/Rutland border. Two midrails and spindle sides, and curving frontboard. The mad-raves are fixed to the frontboard by strap bolts, and the owner's name is placed within an oval on the frontboard. The tailboard can be used as a ladder for climbing into the back of the waggon. Waisted body allowing the wheels to turn into the space provided. Built c.1880 for George Thompson, The Grove, Holbeach Hurn. Restored by P.J. Workman of Copthorne, Sussex, and used on his farm until his death in 1979.
