Summary
marble with brass beading, Chimneypiece with two rosettes, Book Room, Wimpole Hall by James Nelson (d.c.1811). Marble chimneypiece was supplied by the mason, James Nelson. Fireplace of white marble with two rosettes at corners, black marble inlay with brass beading. Overmantel has two 3-arm sconces with 3 female herms supporting lights with 2 chains draped below. Grate in black cast iron with 2 lions heads.
Provenance
Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
