Summary
Plaster, John Locke (1632–1704) by Pier Angelo Sarti (b. Pescaglia 1793) after a bust by John Cheere (London 1709-87) in the Wren Library, Cambridge. A 19th-century plaster bust of John Locke by Pier Angelo Sarti after a model by John Cheere, probably derived from an engraving by George Vertue of the much-copied portrait by Sir Godfrey Kneller (see NPG D18162). One of a set comprising NT 208061, 208062, 208065-208068.
Provenance
Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
