Summary
Watercolour. The Great Avenue of Wimpole from the Terrace, by Eliot Thomas Yorke, MP, DL (1805-1885). The Great Avenue of elms to the south of the house, extending for 2 miles, was planted by Charles Bridgeman in the 1720's, but destroyed by Dutch elm disease in the 1970's. The artist was the third son of Vice-Admiral Sir Joseph Yorke.
Provenance
Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
