Summary
Ormolu, Asia, one of a set of four relief ornaments depicting allegories of the continents, French, c. 1800-25. A cast and gilt bronze relief ornament or mount depicting the allegorical figure of Asia, in classical drapery, sitting on a camel and resting her elbow on a shield with crescent moon, beside her a tripod incense burner billowing smoke. Mounted on rectangular bases with egg and dart moulding.
Provenance
Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
