Summary
Bronze, L'amour naturel, cast from the model by Edouard Drouot, France, c. 1900. A patinated bronze figurine of a winged cupid representing romantic love, holding in both hands a pair of hearts, his quiver slung across the back, his bow resting on the floor. Inscribed by hand on maquette 'Drouot', back of bronze base. Mounted on a socle of rosso antico marble. Paired with NT 207282, a cupid representing matrimonial love.
Provenance
Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
