Summary
8 day, Swiss quarter striking mantel clock in ormolu and marble case, by Robert and Courvoisier, Geneva. c.1800. 2 train, 4 pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack quarter striking (ting tang) on two bells. Circular convex, white enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals and five-minute figures at quarters. Signed in dial centre 'Robert and Courvoisier'. Gilt brass hands. Ormolu and black marble case, with black marble top supported by 4 turned ormolu pillars. Movement in ormolu drum between, with ormolu swags below. Black marble base with ormolu stars and beading round edge. 4 ormolu feet. Note - the pendulum is a later replacement. Robert and Courvoisier are recorded as working in Geneva between 1790-1800.

Part of the Bambridge Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Mrs Elsie Bambridge (1896-1976)
