Summary
A mahogany urn stand, English, late 19th/early 20th century, in George III style. The square top with undulating gallery above bead-applied friezes and a small slide, with brass handle, to one frieze. Raised on four tapering square-section legs joined by a low 'X'-shaped stretcher.
Provenance
Probably the 'small table, tray top, pull-out shelf' listed in the Chancellor’s Bedroom in the Inventory taken at Wimpole in 1965. Date of acquisition not recorded, but probably acquired by George Bambridge (1892 - 1943) and Elsie Bambridge (1896 - 1976), who purchased a largely empty Wimpole in 1938. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Elsie Bambridge.
