Summary
The Hon. Thomas Liddell (here attrib.). Sketch elevation for the entrance front of a stable block at Wimpole, Cambridgeshire, before 1851, inscribed 'Plan for Stables at Wimpole preserving the present line of frontage', pen and ink (185 x 225mm)
Full description
A more carefully drawn version of NT 206255.3, with details of a typical arch and balustrade urn. The handwriting appears identical to that on Liddell's, signed, drawings for the house. The neat copperplate of Kendall's letter of 1840 to his client is very different. Catalogue entry adapted from David Adshead, Wimpole Architectural drawings and topographical views, The National Trust, 2007
Provenance
Charles Philip Yorke, 4th Earl of Hardwicke (1799 - 1873); bequeathed by Elsie Kipling, Mrs George Bambridge (1896 – 1976), daughter of Rudyard Kipling, to the National Trust together with Wimpole Hall, all its contents and an estate of 3000 acres.
