Summary
A pair of carved gilt girandoles or wall mounted sconces with mirror backs framed by carved and gilded garlands of roses and flowers surmounted by acanthus scrolling foliage in Rococo form. The twin candle holders on each sconce are held in the beak of an eagle with outstretched wings.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Government in lieu of inheritance tax and allocated to the National Trust for display at Rievaulx Terrace, 1972.
