Summary
A set of four pine torcheres of term form, painted grey with decorative gilding, the term shaped pedestal decorated with vine leaves and grapes, surmounted by a male or female head supporting a platform for a glass shade fitted with a candle. The glass shade sits on four brass feet, rising to form a decorative column to hold a candle.The height of each candle holder varies.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Government in lieu of inheritance tax and allocated to the National Trust for display at Rievaulx Terrace, 1972.
