Summary
A Chamberlain Worcester dinner service comprising 35 pieces. The boar's head on the service is part of the Beckett family crest. The service was made for Sir Martyn Beckett's father, Sir William Gervase Beckett.
Provenance
Transferred to National Trust from Treasury in lieu of estate duty in 1972. This dinner service was purchased at the Kirkdale Manor sale in 1946 by the late Lord Feversham and was taken by the Treasury in lieu of death duties;Accepted by HM Government in lieu of inheritance tax and allocated to the National Trust for display at Rievaulx Terrace, 1972.
