Summary
A sampler in a dark wood frame depicting roses, a bunch of grapes, animals, birds, flowers in bowls and pots, trees, people and cherubs; shows the tree of life in the centre; bordered top and bottom by the Alphabet and numbers. Made by Elizabeth Ferguson, aged 11, and dated April 28th 1838.
Marks and inscriptions
Inscription reads:- And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was Pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise she took of the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat and Elizabeth Ferguson X Aged X II X April X 28 X 1838
