Summary
White marble sculpture, A Nymph by Richard James Wyatt (London 1795 – Rome 1850), 1830/50. A white marble bust of a young nymph. The sculptor studied under both Canova and Thorvaldsen and lived in Rome.
Provenance
Acquired from Marseille Middleton Holloway (25 Bedford Street, Covent Garden, London) by William Gibbs (for £57 15s for the pair) in 1861; purchased by the National Trust from the estate of the late George Richard Lawley Gibbs, 2nd Baron Wraxall (1928 – 2001) with the assistance of the NHMF, the Art Fund and donations from members and supporters in 2002
