Summary
Trade Vehicle (previously recorded as a Baker’s Van) Horse-drawn road vehicles for commercial purposes were either two or fourwheeled, the main characteristics being the large box van for the carriage of goods (and people) and they were a common sight in all urban and many rural areas into the 20th century. This example is probably late 19th or early 20th century in date, and is a good example of its type. It has no known maker or owners, although one hub cap is by a Keighley vehicle builder. The undercarriage is light, well-sprung and easily manoeuvrable. It also has a brake-block mechanism against the rear wheels.
