Summary
One of a pair of shield-shaped fire screen banners, Circa 1900, of armorial form. Velvet and silk appliqué and beading. Quartered design - top left depicts three lions, gold on red silk; top right depicts a lion rampant, red on gold silk; bottom left depicts a harp and winged female figure, gold on gold silk; bottom right depicts three lions, gold on red silk. Silk ground of front very fragile and reveals hessian backing. Red silk reverse also very fragile. Corded and fringed in black and gold. Two double tassels hang from top corners. Seven rosettes of red silk and black and gold cord along top edge.
