Summary
Black leather bound apothecary chest with gold lines on top at front and back. Evidence of keyhole at front with locking mechanism (broken). Lid and base are hinged with two brass hinges. Top and base are equal in size. The top half has a hinged leather lid secured with a brass swivel retaining clip with a small leather lifting tab. Embossed gold identification on this lid reads; MINIATURE DISPENSARY / KIRBY AND CO / 14 NEWMAN STREET / LONDON, W . FOR DOMESTIC USE. The inside top of chest is divided into two with a loose divider. The top half is lined in red velvet, divided into eight sections, containing eight green glass bottles with wooden stoppers, on top of which is written; KIRBY - LONDON. Lower section is lined with red velvet and divided into seven compartments vertically, each containing a rectangular shaped glass bottle with contents and one measuring cylinder.
